Juliana Henao is originally from Medellin, Colombia. She has a degree in Social Work and has conducted studies in education with children and youth at high risk physically, socially, and morally. She is certified in Waldorf Education, Anger Management, Life Coaching, and Mentoring. She holds an MBA in Project Management from Brenau University.
Since her arrival to the United States, she focused on support groups for victims of domestic violence, anger management groups, and groups for alcohol and drug abuse within Hispanic men. Juliana has also provided workshops on sexual and reproductive education, being a community support individual, she worked as a mentor and provided individual life skills coaching sessions.
Juliana has volunteered as an interpreter for Park Street Elementary School, Kidsave Summer Miracles, and the South Georgia Farmworker Health Project at Emory Medical school. Juliana was recognized by the Boy Scouts of America with the Whitney Young Award in 2012 for her work with disadvantaged youth by developing Scouting in challenging communities. She was the Hospitality Committee Chair for the Georgia Ballet; she is part of the One Billion Rising Atlanta Core Committee, Leadership Development Committee Chair for the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO), and Health Promoter Coordinator for LatinoLinQ. Also, she is a columnist for a Hispanic Newspaper, El Nuevo Georgia. She currently works for the National Down Syndrome Congress and Center for Leadership in Disability of Georgia State University, and Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) Regional Advisory Council for Region 1.
