RESOURCE

EXAMPLE

  • Pennsylvania (PA): The Office of Diversity and Inclusion provides a high level of institutional support within the Human Resources department at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHOP), and makes a concerted effort to reach out personally to prospective employees/trainees from ethnic and racial backgrounds that have been underrepresented among health care professionals. HR representatives attend career fairs and, notably for post-graduate recruiting, they attend professional organizations' annual conventions where they have the opportunity to speak personally to prospective LEND fellows. LEND and the CHOP Office of Diversity & Inclusion produced a recruitment brochure for prospective LEND trainees highlighting our mission to serve historically underserved minority children and families.

Establish partnerships with national organizations representing the direct support professional (DSP) community to develop a pipeline and career path for DSPs into disability careers and UCEDD/LEND programs.
