Mireille Karam was born and raised in Beirut-Lebanon during the civil war. Soon after graduating with a master’s degree in Graphic design and Advertising she was hired at a Lebanese TV station where in a very short time, she reached the position of Creative Director. Six years later she opened her own business and workshop in Chocolate and Design. A beautiful love story with her husband Moses, who happens to be an American citizen, brought her to the United States, to beautiful Utah. The loss of her twins who were born with a disability was a turning point in her life and contributed to her desire to learn more about social work and disabilities. Currently, Mireille is attending the school of Architecture to earn a second Master’s degree. Her goal is to later work in Architecture to adapt homes, buildings, and other public constructions to needs of people with disabilities. She is fluent in 3 languages (French, Arabic, and English) and knows up to 6 other more. She is excited to be working with the diversity fellowship project. For Mireille, this is an opportunity to improve her knowledge in social work, help people, and overcome the selfishness of the artist in her.
