Austin Duncan is a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on the interactions between disability, the community, and social policy. Austin is especially interested in the subject because he survived a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in 2003, and currently serves on the advisory board of the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona. For the fellowship, he will be part of a team at the University of Arizona that will conduct TBI outreach and awareness-raising, as well as a preliminary Needs Assessment for TBI-related services with Native communities.
