Action Step: CC-1.1
UCEDDs will demonstrate an increasing rate of meaningful participation of individuals with I/DD and their families from underserved groups in all initiatives, projects, and activities, including establishing priorities and setting measurable goals. Meaningful participation extends beyond being the intended audience for training, the recipients of services and supports, or participants in studies.
Objective: CC-1 Action Area: Crosscutting Considerations (CC)
RESOURCES:
- Strategy G: Develop a subcommittee of Board, Advisory Council, or other appropriate body with a focus on diversity, inclusion, resiliencies and disparities, and cultural and linguistic competence.
- Strategy H: Apply cultural brokering model in health, social, recreational, education, and other services and settings. Identify cultural brokers in order to bridge access to underrepresented cultural groups.
- Strategy P: Focus on individual and community strengths and resiliencies. Address the disparities and disproportionality within diverse communities.
- Strategy U: Diversify leadership staff. Develop additional layers in organizational structure so there is a clear path for early career professionals to gain leadership experiences and enter leadership roles within AUCD central office.
